Notes from Sally: In this workshop you will make a completed birch bark fairy house on a wooden hexagonal base suitable for a tea-light installation. We will make our houses with optional window styles and an open doorway. You will build a twig-frame roof covered in a base layer of brown felt. This will provide a perfect base for your choice of finished roof styles. Demonstrated options will be silk flower-petal shingles, silk leaf shingles, pine-cone scale shingles and faux moss. Crafters will chose which roof finish they wish to apply to their fairy house. Materials will be supplied but crafters are encouraged to bring extra personal favorite embellishments they want to add to their house such as beads, shells, crystals etc. We will be using SHARP Exacto knives and hot glue guns but no paint, markers or glitter. If you have small but sharp scissors such as embroidery scissors, please bring them along as they will be very helpful.
The images below show examples of the fairy houses you can create in this class!
