Eighty years after the Japanese surrender in September 1945, historians Andy Buchanan and Ruth Lawlor will discuss the Greater Second World War, the world it created, and its importance for what is unfolding today. The speakers will also discuss their newest book The Greater Second World War: Global Perspectives published this summer by Cornell University Press.
Andy Buchanan is a Senior Lecturer in History at the University of Vermont. Ruth Lawlor is Assistant Professor in the History of the United States in the World at Cornell University. For the past five years, they have been collaborating with historians across the globe in developing a broader perspective on the Second World War. Their presentation will highlight their work, including their participation in recent conferences in Brazil, France, Italy, and China.
