Longtime wilderness advocates John Davis and Tom Butler explore how “rewilding” (wilderness recovery) benefits natural and human communities. Adirondack Park, the greatest historical example of large-scale rewilding on Earth, can serve as a model for protecting and restoring wildlife and wildlands across our region and beyond, especially if missing species such a wolves and cougars can be welcomed home.
SPEAKERS: Tom Butler is a cofounder and board member of Northeast Wilderness Trust. He is the author of Wildlands Philanthropy: The Great American Tradition and many other conservation books.
John Davis, rewilding advocate for Adirondack Council, is the former executive director of the Rewilding Institute and the visionary behind the Split Rock Wildway. He is the author of Split Rock Wildway: Scouting the Adirondack Park’s Most Diverse Wildlife Corridor.
