In this talk, historian and frequent Lyceum lecturer Andy Buchanan will take a long historical view of the relationship between human beings and the natural world, asking where our notion of wilderness comes from and how it has changed over time.

SPEAKER: Andy Buchanan is a Senior Lecturer in History at the University of Vermont. He teaches global and American history and global environmental histor. He is the author of numerous books and articles on World War II. His most recent books include The Greater Second World War: Global Perspectives (with Ruth Lawlor) and From World War to Postwar: Revolution, Cold War, Decolonization, and the Rise of American Hegemony, 1943-1958.
